Hoekstra Solutions Express Tour to Discuss Budget Solutions

Press Release

Date: Aug. 19, 2012
Location: Grand Rapids, MI

Senate candidate Pete Hoekstra will be hosting press conferences at the below locations on Monday to discuss the federal budget, the debt and the stark contrast between his work on the House Budget Committee and Senator Stabenow's failed record on the Senate Budget Committee.

"Senator Stabenow has failed American families, seniors and the next generation with her record as a member of the Senate Budget Committee," said Hoekstra. "She has done nothing but follow Harry Reid's lead resulting in incomprehensible debt and the country going without a budget for over 1,200 days."

The national debt has increased by $6.14 trillion (FY02-FY11) since Debbie Stabenow began serving on the Senate Budget Committee and has already risen by another trillion dollars this fiscal year. As a member of the House Budget Committee, Pete Hoekstra helped balance the budget for the first time in 30 years and balanced the budget for four consecutive years.

"This is a serious issue facing the country and the contrasts before Michigan voters could not be clearer. I know that it is taxpayer's hard-earned money that the government spends, and Congress has a moral responsibility to balance the budget for the next generation. Sen. Stabenow believes it is the government's money, it is limitless and there are no economic consequences for trillion dollar deficits," said Hoekstra. "I have the record of making the tough decisions to get the job done for Michigan families and workers."
